Back in 2010, I was working the door at Death By Audio, checking IDs. Steph came in and declared "I don't pay admission here!" I narrowed my eyes skeptically and said "I've never seen you before and I live here." I kicked her to the curb - but she was persistent. She eventually decided to just hang out with me at the door and I sweet talked her into a bike ride the following week. Before we knew it, we were sharing a prison cell in North Carolina and the rest is history.
I biked over to Death By Audio to see a few bands one evening in August 2010. It had been some time since I had been to the space. When I went to the door, I found Mark, who I did not know, working. He was wearing a soft cast on his foot. I told him my name and how I was involved in the space. He immediately started asking me many questions and what I thought might be flirting (?). Mark invited me to go on a bike ride the next day. I asked, "How do you plan to bike with the cast?" He said, "Oh this thing? No big deal." Although I did not attend the bike ride, we exchanged numbers and after a few failed attempts to get together, I finally went over for drinks and to play on the cargo-net. A few months later, after a delicious fancy sushi dinner, Kleeb said to me, "So you know, I am not in the singles club anymore." Although I made him clarify this, it was that night we became an official couple, and shortly after, a power couple.
